About us

LAAVENTURA Audiovisual Productions

was created by Laila and Nadia Hotait with the goal of working with other producers, distributors and creative people from the audiovisual community.

Our objective is to approach every project with a set of questions about what lies beyond a given reality. The way that we distill any theme is through its delivery, which may take the form of documentaries, films, an audiovisual installation or a cultural event, but always within a format that has been determined through the original content.

We are passionate about every project that we undertake and are fully invested in its success from inception to completion. We currently have projects that are available for screening and have exciting new projects in the works.

Our work has been supported in different ways by Sundance Doc. Institute, Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, Rosellini Productions, AlJazeera Children TV Channel and Casa Arabe-IEAM. We work mainly in Spain, the Arab countries and the U.S.

EUROBA (NOW IN PREPARATION TO BE HELD IN DECEMBER, 2010, IN CASA ARABE)

The New Europe has been in the process of redefining itself for longer than we think. A new Europe where Muslim and Arab communities are conforming brand new social groups in mixing with local people. A quite compelling issue to be explored and talk about. Always in refreshing and constructive terms.
Program

FILMMAKING UNDER FIRE. CONTEMPORARY CINEMA FROM IRAK, LEBANON AND PALESTINE.


To show the urgency with which local artists and filmmakers form Lebanon, Irak and Palestine, had responded to the violence. Most of the titles where International premieres, that arranged from animations done in Iraq during the occupation, to feature films that reflected on the massacres in Palestine, and a special focus on the videos created during and in the aftermath of the 2006 attacks over Lebanon. To present a hybrid of fiction, documentary and video art that conformed a panorama of the immense amount of work that is being done in these three countries, despite the current affairs.

The most ambitious exhibition of Arab Cinema (more than thirty titles) done in Spain up until the year 2007, when the screenings took place in Madrid, Córdoba ann Granada, and the first series of films presented at Casa Árabe, an institution formed by a consortium of administrations under the guidance and leadership of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

SERIES OF SHORT FILMS PRESENTED WITH CINESTESIAS/NISIMASA FILM COLLECTIVE.


To showcase short films from new International filmmakers that arrange from very high Budget Films to low Budget ones, and student works. With the theme as the espine of the program.

The Films are presented in a party ambiance that connects the situation of the screenings with the theme of them.
